IISc ranked best educational institution by HRD Ministry

         Bengaluru's Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Delhi's Miranda House have made it to the top of respective categories in the country's official higher education rankings announced by the government.Releasing the list in New Delhi, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar stated that the government will provide more grants and funds for institutions faring better in rankings.

IIT-Kharagpur to get supercomputing facility

The Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur is set to receive a supercomputing facility.The facility will have a capacity of 1 Peta Flop and help to usher in a new age of super-fast research and innovation.

Peta-Flop is a measurement of computing power based on the frequency of mathematical calculations that can be done per second. It is being offered to IIT-Kgp under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) scheme.


"The system is not a web server and can only be accessed by authorized persons. It will be used only for high-level research in different areas. The super computer has many central processing units (CPUs) and graphical processing units (GPUs) combined and hence it is much faster than the regular ones.

Best Asian universities:IISc,IIT in Top 50

Asia University Rankings 2017 released by Times Higher Education (THE) on Wednesday, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) holds on to its last year position at 27. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has grabbed 42 rank while at number 43 is Chennai-based private institute Veltech University.

Totally 33 Indian institutes in top 300 list.In the rankings topped by Singapore’s National University, followed by China’s Peking University.
